TRANSAX Merchant Services Review 2017

TRANSAX was launched in 1986 as a card payment service provider. In 2008 the company considerably expanded its product range by including a range of merchant services through Certegy, a member of FIS a global payment services provider. The new company was launched as TRANSAX Merchant Services which provides a wide range of payment processing including cards, cheques, e-top ups and cashback.

The primary focus of TRANSAX is customer present (CP) payment processing. TRANSAX is famed for its lower than industrial average pricing and it claims to be able to save businesses 40% of their current card processing costs. Their customer base includes 12,500 businesses across Europe and includes several giant brands including Tesco, Total and Whitbread.

Verdict

Although TRANSAX don’t publish pricing information, there are many reports of businesses reducing their costs substantially by transferring to them from an alternative merchant services provider. Their solutions are secure, trusted by major brands, and they offer good customer service.

However, if your business trades in a sector that is considered to be high risk, it is unlikely that TRANSAX would provide you with a merchant account. This is to minimise their exposure to risk and thus enable them to offer competitive pricing generally. Overall though, TRANSAX would make an excellent choice for many merchants.
